BAG RAIDERS

so idk what my issue is, but im slow and not very good about posting stuff....i've found about a billion new songs that i love since my last post but i don't think i could write about them each and every single time that i find them. i should though.

i should be better but my thought is that if i have to write on this than i should also have time to apply for jobs....awk just a little

anyway, there is this semi-new band that im sort of getting obsessed with. the band, BAG RAIDERS, is from Australia like Miami Horror and i think the two have slightly similar musical "aesthetics" if that makes any sense.

i downloaded a lot of their music a while ago. as in this summer, but for some reason forgot about it until now.

here is there stuff:

1. "sunlight"
the song is REALLY catchy. like i can't stop listening to it catchy. i think i did the same thing this summer or early fall when i first heard it. i really love it. i also love that it is dancey and poppy. so gut. i'll admit the song is a little cheesy but it's still rockin my ear drumz

2. Golden Wings
this song is more along the lines of the heavier electro stuff that i've posted a lot of. i really like how it feels sort of like a "controlled burn" which is how i would describe a lot of the songs i listen to. it's sort of a stupid description but it makes sense in my head. anyway, i love that this band can have two totally different sounds. it's gr8

Supporting a friend + SKINS

sorry i never update. school keeps me busy and this month has left me a mess.

but whatever, who wants to know about others baggage? not me!

i'd like to give a shot out to a friend from Toronto.

My blog isn't a fashion blog. although i've considered making one, i certainly wouldn't write about fashion for the females. but for those few and much appreciated females who do read this blog i want to direct you to FASHION RIFFS

hopefully i'll be able to take a trip to toronto soon.

i'd also like to highlight my most recent obsession, SKINS. most everyone outside of the US is already familiar with the british teen drama. MTV is set to make an American version of the show, and i know those of you who have seen the previews are skeptical.

before the mtv version is made, i hope ppl get a chance to check out the real thing. it's amazing.

check out the preview for the 1st season of UK SKINS, sh_tz CRAZY.

ITS BEEN AWHILE

W H A T A W E I R D I M A G E

hey

so i dont have a whole lot of time to get all fancy w/ posting da musique etc
who knew that school would keep me so busy??? lol.

i now have 2 radio shows on campus, you can check them out online @ WHCL 88.7 but jfyi the streaming doesn't work for some reason. idk when it will be fixed but i hope soon. My goal is to try and get some time to mix music but who knows how long that will go or how long it will last

on to the music:

1. Coeur De Pirate - Comme des Enfants (Le Matos Andy Carmicheal Remix) : idk how i missed this song but it's amazing. today during my frist radio show (10 am each monday yall) Mel played it and it was fcking gr8. less harder than what i normally listen to but whatever. the french + electro combo can always win this heart over

2. Neon Indian – Psychic Chasms (Anoraak Remix) : a song to make sweet slow love to, LOLILOL....no but it is a good "chill wave" song wtvr the eff that means. but i really like this.

there was a third song but i cant find it anymore and it's srsly frustrating.

~ Marina And The Diamonds – Hollywood (Fenech-Soler Remix) : this one isn't bad. it's not my fav though just thought i'd include it. could be fun to run to and or party to. one line is esp gr8 "im obsessed with the mess that is america" --> really works for me.

What makes a good "smoking song?"

KMH recently asked me what constitutes a "good smoking song"

i reflected upon this question and came to the following formula:

The Sound of (domestic) Violence

(for some reason, i've lost the formatting tools.....)

schooooool has startttttted

upstate ny is enjoying an amazing heat wave. walking to class and feeling the sweat on my back is really the best feeling in the world. (not).

it's weird. i dont feel like there is any progression in the days. they all bleed together. before i realize it, the end will be here and i'll probably be unemployed. (hope not)

anyway, i recently found this remix of Cassius "Sound of Violence"....i was really REALLY into the original 2nd year, esp the video....it's such a kewl video, ill post it below.

~ The Sound of Violence (Mattanol Remix) ~
a remix to a fcking amazing song to begin with. the song is now more more disco-e.

this is the kewl video from Cassius' Sound of Violence:

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>

~ This Space ~
the next song from Royksopp should really be included in my last post about "music that's out ~there~" but it's not...it's like "omg soooooooooooooo trippy" lol it's kewl. feel like im goin on a journey or somethinnnnnn

i was really lazy posting this. i blame it on the heat wave///h8 wave

getting a little more out ~there~

as the name of the post might suggest, this post will "feature" or "highlight" if you will, music that "pushes" my blog's "boundaries"......but not really. im just trying to "capture" your "attention"

but in all seriousness, the two songs im highlighting are much different from the past things i've posted. i like them and if i didn't i obviously wouldnt be wasting my/your time talking about them.

let's start with whats "less weird" and work our way from there!

~ Twin Stars (Lone Remix) ~
this song is by Solar Bears. Admittedly, it's not all that weird or at least i dont think so. i like the song b/c it has that kind of mystical/space quality/style/something that sort of reminds me of a more cracked out version of Daft Punk's Voyager. This song is deff much less "chill" but then i'm not a very "chill" person. Anyway, the song is just nice to listen to, daydream. look at the sun falling through the leaves (lol @ self-reference [and being a huge tool while doing it!])

~ Sponsored by Destiny ~
this song is by Slagsmlsklubben (i think they go by SMK for short) and i was first introduced to them by Jeeta. This song is much harder than most of what i've posted but i really like it. The intro is great, really builds some tension. I sort of see this song as a darker version of the previous one. I'll admit when the song gets all "blippy" and "bloppy" it is sort of annoying but when all of that fades away it's perfect, just turn it up and "feel da \\B\\E\\E\\T\\".....also: i apologize for the intensely crappy visuals of the video

~ Nerve Salad ~
Simian Mobile Disco is by far one of my favorite acts/bands/group/idk what to call them. i was supposed to see them @ Social in Paris but life intervened. STILL REALLY WANT TO SEE THEM. this song is probably the least accessible in the group. the song is cool it's even better with the video, which i can no longer find. 2bh, it's hard to explain why i like this song, but i do.
